Our second edible garden walk was Tuesday, July 22, 2008. We visited two gardens on Burke Street between 36th and 38th streets, then had dessert together afterward. Once again, about 25 people attended.
Before Helen planted her garden 15 years ago, her front yard looked a lot like her neighbor's.
Helen uses all sorts of warming techniques (planting near brick, covering the soil) to jumpstart her veggies. She harvested her first tomatoes July 3 this year.
In her backyard, Helen grows heirloom tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries, peas and more!

Next we walked up the street to visit Mason, Chris, Sarah and Jonathan's shared (and irrigated) garden.
The automated irrigation system means less time watering.
